x+2y>8
x,y,x+2y, Is x+y>6?
0,5,10, NO
4,4,12, YES
Not Sufficient

from 2:
Similarly like 1.
Not Sufficient

Combining 1 and 2:
3x+3y>16
x+y>16/3.... So it can be >6 or <6 or =6
Not sufficient

IMO answer E

Yes ..can add ..
say X> 1 and y > 4 => X+y>5
or say X+Y> 2 and X-Y > 1 implies 2X> 3 ; hence x> 3/2
or say X+y> 3 and X+3y> 7 implies 2X+4y> 10
