Doubts regarding my chances

Hi,

I recently gave my GMAT and have a few doubts regarding the schools i should apply to.Please direct me in this regard.

GPA-My marks are in percentages,not GPA.Here they are
10th-94%-Top 5 in the district(won scholarship)
12th-83%(won scholarship)
Degree(BSc Physics)-77%
Masters(MCA)-81%

GMAT-720(V:-41,Q:-47,AWA-5.5)

Work Experience-
1)IT engineer with Infosys for 3 years--Lead a team of 5-Was given project managerial responsibilities of 2 projects
2)IT engineer with Accenture for 1 year-Lead a team of 12-Was thoroughly involved in CSR activities-Resigned due to desire for voluntary work.
3)Currently working as a full time volunteer(Programme co-ordinator) for a small NGO in my hometown.

Extra-Curricular involvement-
--Was awarded the 'Best Actress' for inter-collegiate drama competition in college
--Won prizes for Mime and Drama competitions in inter-collegiate fests.
--Organised IT engineers in Accenture for tutoring under-privileged kids in Chennai,India.

Leadership potential-
--Was awarded the best RYLA-rian at the district RYLA(Rotary Youth Leadership Award) organised by the Rotary club.
--Was elected the 'Arts Secretary' of the College Union.

Please evaluate my profile and let me know whether i stand a chance if i apply to schools like NUS,Nanyang,ISB,Cambridge,Oxford,Harvard,Stanford etc.What should be a realistic list of colleges with my kind of profile?

Dear dpthimenon,

Congratulations on your GMAT score! It is a strong score and one that puts you in range for any MBA program. Since your profile is over-represented in the global MBA applicant pool, you will need to distinguish yourself from similar applicants. I think you have a chance at your current list of schools, which appears to have a good mix of reach and reasonable choices. You could add a safety school to the mix, but it might not be necessary if your submit a strong, overall application.

Hi Lisa,

Thanks a lot for the prompt reply.But,i have one specific doubt.

After working in the IT industry for 4 years,I moved to the non-profit sector as i wanted to volunteer for an NGO started by a friend.Now,I am working full-time at this NGO(a small start-up for disabled kids and poor patients) without any pay.I intend to work here till i join a B-school.My contribution to this NGO is solid and has helped it in many ways.My responsibilities include fund-raising,co-ordinating new projects,making sure that the NGO does not have any compliance issues with the central/state govt etc.

Please let me know if this experience is going to add any value to my profile.I fear that the full-time volunteering experience will dampen my chances.Please advise.

I think it is commendable that you are volunteering there on a full-time basis and it could be an asset to your application. As long as your reasoning for taking on a volunteer role as your full-time job is solid, then it is not going to be a negative for your applications.
