"If" shouldn't be used to introduce an indirect question in the GMAT. "If" can be used only in conditional sentences.
Instead you should use "whether."

e.g.
I don't know whether he is coming. - CORRECT

I don't know if he is coming - INCORRECT
I don't know whether he is coming or not - INCORRECT because it is REDUNDANT
