Raunekk, I like the way you used red to highlight ideas that should go together but were split apart. I agreed with what you indicated about choices B-D.

The problem with A is that it sounds as if the team discovered the skeleton in a book:

Archaeologist Donald Johanson wrote of his team's discovery of a 3.2 million-year-old skeleton in his award-winning book Lucy: The Beginnings of Humankind.

A is similar to saying "Holden is skating on page 185." Someone might say that if they were trying to describe what's happening on page 185 of a novel, but it sounds as if the guy is skating around on the page. This is the same kind of thing -- it sounds like they discovered a skeleton in his award-winning book.

I think "being" is redundant in D above.
Also "being" is kind of taboo on GMAT SC !!!

'being' is often but not always taboo on the GMAT. In D, it's clearly wrong -- it's unnecessary and it changes the meaning (it makes it sound as if the book is currently in the process of being written).

I don't think 'his' is ambiguous, because the skeleton would not be referred to as 'he' -- it would be an it.
