I took both GMAT and GRE a while ago. I had to take two sets of Verbal questions. If I remember it right, I was told that one of them is for trial. But they did not identify the one that counts. something like that ....

Any body?

Things have changed now, mate.
It's computer adaptive all the way.
so there are only two sections viz. math and verbal, along with writing section where you want to write two essays.

The experimental section or what you call ^trial^ section is not there anymore but single questions tested (experimetal and not counted) in both section throughout test.
