Do you guys visit your "safe" school?

Ok, I am aiming for San Diego State U for my safe school... I plan on moving from out of state to create a niche in the san diego area/socal area so I am looking at socal schools.. SDSU is my safe school.

Should I visit it? Will it look stupid if I come from out of state to visit an average program? I'll be hitting up other schools in the process.

I think you should visit any school that you have the means to travel to. Having said that, the important thing is to demonstrate "fit" to the adcom - so visiting isn't really the issue, but whether you can convey that you would be a great addition to their student body... that and if you really know that you'd fit in there yourself. So if you can do that without visiting (by diving deep into the school's information and writing that content into your essays) then you shouldn't have to visit.

You should definitely visit if you can. How do you know you'll like being there if you don't visit? Who cares what other people think? It's 2 years of YOUR life and your money. If I listened to people every time I thought I would look stupid, I would be a bum on the street. ;-) and THEN I'd really look stupid!

The thing about SDSU is that they don't do interviews or anything of the like. Resumes are not required and you could submit letters of rec (up to 3) but it sounds like it isnt required. They pretty much only look at GMAT and GPA.

So I was thinking it might be overkill. But I will check it out...

Money.. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

This post made sense and I will definitely squeeze it in my trip (when in Rome, something something.. I forgot how the rest went). 2 years would suck at a place that I might not have liked if I would've visited it in the first place. Then again.. its San Diego... it would take a really crappy program to allow my to hate being there!
