Can you take a look at my profile below, and let me know if I stand a chance at (1) scoring above 700 and (2) getting into a top tier MBA program? I'm especially nervous about my earlier college history. I plan to apply to Columbia and Stern, but Columbia is my dream school... Thanks.

I'm a non native English speaker.

I got into the wrong crowd in college, and failed out with an extremely low GPA after 3 semesters. I immediately enrolled into a community college, and transferred to a 4-year college. I took 18-21 credits every semester, took classes through the breaks, and graduated with a 3.78 GPA.

I've been working in the industry for 4.5 years.

I just took my first GMATPrep practice, and received a 640 (Q37, V39)...my baseline.

Not enough info, really to make an accurate assesment. Columbia is going to care about where you got your undergrad degree. You have a potentially interesting comeback story, but only will resonate with Ivy league if you graduated from a top undergrad school after failing out etc... It is impossible to say whether or not you can achieve a 700+ on the GMAT. Some on this forum will say yes with enough effort and practice you can do it, so in a way it's really up to you. I would say given your "checkered" academic past, you should definitely be shooting for the moon on the GMAT to put any academic concerns to rest. Good luck.
