Do I require to join an institute for GMAT ?

Hi,

My name is Suman kumar and I am new to this forum. I work as a software engg for a company called Microsoft Corp. I have close to 3 years of experience.

I am planning to take GMAT sometime in FEB 08 so as to have time for other processings and hit my target of applying for fall 09.

Just to guage myself for GMAT, I took a Prep test and got 560 (do not remember the split but english was pathetic). Now I am very much worried about my standard, and I think i need a good institute.

I enquired Princton(24000 rupees) and IMS(24000 ruppes including counselling for admissions) and I am confused looking at various threads across forums, about the quality of teachings at these institutes.

Please help me understand,
1. A guy like with such initial score would require an institute ?
2. Which among these two institutes are good ( I mean the material, srategies etc). I am from Hyderabad.

Please help me with your suggestions, so that i can plan my preparaion well and invest my money smartly.

Welcome to the community!

You don't necessarily need to take a GMAT prep course to do well on the GMAT, but if you're willing to make the investment it can only help.

What is your target GMAT score?

Of the two prep courses you mentioned, I would recommend Princeton Review. However, I encourage you to check out Manhattan GMAT--in my opinion, they offer the best GMAT prep course. As a Beat The GMAT member, you are entitled to a 10% discount.
