Do I need training to learn the tips n tricks?

Well, mine is another story here:

1st attempt: 590 - V34, ,Q 39
2nd attempt: 650 - V 34 ,Q 47
3rd attempt: 620 - V 34, Q 41

And so I have been advised to take some training to boost my score. My question really is what difference apart from discipline do these training courses provide? Can I not get the tips and tricks from the books?

You can get stuff from books; however, I will say that books tend to be a supplement to good instruction. Nothing like having someone help you with your specific issues.

I think the answer to that question depends on your learning style. Some people learn best from books, while others require a different approach (class, tutor, videos, etc.)

Hi Brent, Thanks for the response...

Lets presume that I am disciplined and can spend that focused effort, but will coaching give me any tips and tricks that I otherwise wont find in any of the books?

I guess that depends largely on the books you have been reading. Are they comprehensive?

OG 12th Edition
MGMAT SC
Powerscore CR

Im the last attempt, I only focussed on OG 12 along with self paced online coaching from Master GMAT.. and alas I boomed big time.... 650 to 620 :(

I don't typically comment on my competitor's materials, but those all look good to me.
Perhaps the 620 was an anomaly.

Well my experience with the strategies I learnt last time wasnt great...may be I am on the wrong footing... but they did not work for me...

I observed (very late though) that I have been scoring poor on verbal... Any advise on how I should be preparing?

Really appreciate your help.

Hi Jim, I have options of coaching here in Hyderabad India, its just that I am not confident with the level of support I may get from them :(
