Disaster: dinged at columbia, no interview

by ksc1940 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 2:10 pm
I submitted around 12/1 and just got the ding e-mail. Pretty stunned since i thought i had a strong app and given the quick turnaround time, i assumed that it would be an invite. I guess this means that my profile is fundamentally flawed. Worried that this means i have little hope for the other top programs i'm applying to. Devastated right now.

Think positively. Probably the school was not confident that such a strong student like you will join them. So instead of wasting their time and a seat, they choosen not to consider you.

Atleast I believe that way and I have my reason for that.

If the school care to give a sensible and personal reply then you do not have any negative feeling about the school. However, when the so called arrogant schools shows their sheer arrogance, it gives a negative feeling.

You never know I may one day decide on a billion dollar grants to some B school or my companies recruitments. Let's part away professionally. It's very simple, schools have many students to choose and I too have too many schools to choose!!

Just talked to a friend who's a first-year at columbia. He told me that an adcom officer told him and a few other students privately that re-applicants are "once and done." He thinks that columbia, along with HBS, are the toughest schools for re-applicants to get into.

Why don't you share some of your profile and perhaps we can help assess if you put in the best application given your story?
Blogging about the MBA application process. Because I need to do something with all this bschool energy.
