From a drawer containing black, blue and gray solid-color socks, including at least three socks of each color, how many matched pairs can be removed?

(1) The drawer contains 11 socks.

(2) The drawer contains an equal number of black and gray socks.

1 is insufficient because we have a lot of possible combinations of socks: for instance, 3 black, 3 blue, 5 grey or 4 black, 3 blue and 4 grey.
2 is insufficient because we do not know the total number o socks or anything about the proportion of black vs. blue or gray vs. blue.
Both statements taken together are insufficient. This is because you have two possible cases:
black 4
blue 3
gray 4
giving you a total of 2 + 1 + 2 = 5 pairs

or

black 3
blue 5
gray 3
giving you a total of 1 + 2 + 1 = 4 pairs.

Therefore, I would go with E.
