Use the answer choices.
The correct answer choice represents bucket-hexagon.
When the bucket is multiplied by a larger digit (bucket + star), the product is the hexagon, an even larger digit.
Given the answer choices, the only viable option for the bucket is 2. Any other value will be too big.

The correct answer is A.

Here's the math:
Bucket = 2.
Star = 1.
Hexagon = Bucket(Bucket+Star) = 2(2+1) = 6.

We can start by putting the choices in the second equation. options b,c,d,and e will give negative value for STAR sign, which is not possible. so we are left with option (a), substitute the number in the main question and check. Option A is correct.
