My pick is D

A. Despite Beethoven's traditional status as the first great Romantic composer, he is considered by some musicologists to be the last great composer of the Classical era. - whom does "he" refer to ?
B. Despite Beethoven's traditional status as the first great Romantic composer, he is considered the last great composer of the Classical era by some musicologists.whom does "he" refer to ?
C. Although his status is traditionally as the first great Romantic composer, Beethoven is considered as being the last great composer of the Classical era by some musicologists. Incorrect...
D. Despite his traditional status as the first great Romantic composer, Beethoven is considered the last great composer of the Classical era by some musicologists.
E. Although he is traditionally considered to be the first great Romantic composer, some musicologists consider Beethoven as the last great composer of the Classical era. - "some musicologists" -> "he is traditionally considered to be the first great Romantic composer".. the subordinate clause doesn't point out the right subject (needs to be Beethoven)

correct idiom is

consider X Y
consider X as Y -> wrong
consider X to be Y -> wrong

so only b , d remains.

B : [ from above post ]

Now..these are the kinda questions that are surely not gonna be there on actual gmat...
after doing descent practice on sc..many people come to know that consider to be / consider as are wrong in gmat...
people have come to think of being as always wrong on gmat..
this is not gonna happen in gmat...

after reading many responses of past takers...that sc ws not what i solved in mocks...it was convoluted...i didnt understand d errors that are being tested... i can say that sc has changed drastically.. n worst thing is..we do not have many good sources that would come up wid d new sc pattern..

Adi,

I don't agree with you. If I am not wrong then any company such as MGMAT, Kaplan, Veritas or Grokit is formulating its questions based on OG. If GMAT comes with some new ideas then these our beloved instructors are not responsible for that. However, everyone is doing his/her best to help us out. So I think we should understand from them.

GMAT is a like a cricket field. You do hell lot of practice in net, you never know how bowler is going to bowl you. However, if you are Sachin Tendulkar then you won't care who the bowler is, hit the ball and it must cross the line.

Coming back to what GMAT is going to test with you. My two experience with GMAT, GMAT test you with different things such as time pressure and very difficult language these are 2 very bad things, which GMAT has with it. I bet you will see the same basic idea questions, but they are so tricked that we can easily loose our pace. So practice in net as much as you can and try to read the mind of test maker.

Love test makers, I can say these test makers are best, see how much human brain analysis they do. They read our mind without meeting us or without interacting with us. I remember one sentence mentioned by DanaJ, 'love GMAT and then study, you will definitely see the success'.

I do agree that yes...Mgmat is really trying hard to put in best material available der...
in fact every company is trying to do dat... but when i hear the test takers comments... de didnt think that this was what we practiced... Yday...suman said d same thing...SC was convoluted.... verbal was tough than what i got in mocks.. I did not understand the RC....
So reality is somewhat different...
N I too have seen many..u wont believe many..to fall under the time pressure n exam pressure...

Btw...Sachin tendulkar is only one... N its tough for everybody to become sachin tendulkar..
