Hello
I have been a dentist for a while but I don't enjoy the clinical part so i want to get an MBA in a top school but I want to remain in the dental/health-care field and maybe manage dental clinics.
Any advice or feedback on this post MBA goal? Is it an impressive/strong career goal that i could write in my essays?
Are there any other careers i can do after i get my mba?
thank you very much for your time.

Dear ddsmba,

I think you are on the right track here--you need to determine how you are going to leverage your dental career in the future. The healthcare industry is growing daily with new types of opportunities springing up all of the time. If you have an idea for managing dental clinics, a new kind of business model, then that is a legitimate goal, but you would need to flesh it out a bit more to give it some specificity in your essays. There are other career options that might find your dental experience interesting in healthcare like healthcare consulting, hospital administration and biotechs with dental applications, to name a few. I encourage you to do some research--try to talk with some folks in these types of jobs and others you come across to determine what interests you.

Good luck,
Lisa
