Dentist Profile advice

Hello
I have been a dentist for a while but I don't enjoy the clinical part so I want
to get an MBA in a top school but I want to remain in the dental/health-care field
and maybe manage dental clinics.
Any advice or feedback on this post MBA goal? Is it an impressive/strong career goal
that I could write in my essays?

Hi,

Thanks for your post. First off, you will make for quite a unique business school applicant as not many dentist seem to seek out an MBA. While an MD/MBA is becoming more common, it isn't often that someone in the medical field chooses to get an MBA after practicing for awhile. Given your unique situation a lot will hinge on your goals. It appears you have a sound reason for seeking an MBA and I can see why the degree is a logical step for you in order to achieve your goals. The most important thing to keep in mind when crafting a goals essay is to be sure that you are not only clear and concise, but that you leave the adcom with no doubt that the MBA is essential for you to successfully achieve your goals. Given your unique profile, you may wish to provide the adcom with the specific skills you need to obtain from an MBA in order to achieve this goal as well as a sound reason for the switch in profession.
