Plain math work

Take g = 5 b/2 from the first line of stem, and put the same in the second line of stem, which is (b + 12)/g = 4/9.

Now, have 9 (b + 12) = 10 b, or [spoiler]b = 108[/spoiler].

Let initially there are 2X boys and 5X girls.
so (2X+ 12) /5X = 4/9 --> 18X+108 = 20X --> X=54
so current no. of boys = 2X=108 Ans E
