Decline in practice test score!!! HELP

Expert replies

I have been studying moderately since late December. My practice scores have been:
GMAT PREP: 650 (on 1/19)
MGMAT Free test: 630 (on 2/1)
MGMAT Test 1 : 570! (took this test today 2/22)

I am not sure how I declined so much in a few weeks. I have been studying much harder since the MGMAT free test(2/1). Basically studying for 2-6 hours per day. I assumed my score would increase with intense study. Have I burned myself out? I know I shouldn't have studied yesterday, but I reviewed for five hours. I felt fine during the test today, but was astounded when I saw my score. Does anyone have any advice or similar stories? My test date is March 28th. I still have a few weeks to straighten out my score ...I need some good advice. (my target score is 680-720). Please HELP!

I also noticed a strange occurrence in the scoring algorithm. I would get a 600-700 level question wrong, then my next question would be a 700-800 question. This happened multiple times during the test...I thought if you get a 600-700 level question wrong...the next question would be 600-700 or 500-600. Any thoughts?

the breakup of your score would help give a clearer picture.. i think the mgmat quant section is too calculation intensive, so it would not correctly reflect your actual Quant raw score. On the other hand, I found the verbal section to be quite similar to OG and GMAT prep questions. Plus you have to keep in mind that only the gMAT prep software would give the most accurate score that reflects your ability. Unfortunately, GMAT prep only has 2 practice tests so we all have to resort to 3rd party CAT tests.

In a nutshell, look at your score breakup and pinpoint your weakness.
