Date of birth mismatch in Passport

Expert replies

Hi,

I am a Chartered Accountant from India and am planning to few MBA schools in U.S.A this year. I have a situation with my Date of Birth in passport. I am actually born on 1983 - my Date of Birth Certificate has 1983 as the year of birth. But my Secondary School certificate (Xth standard) has 1982 as the year of birth and this got reflected in passport too. Now, my passport came for renewal and I approached Passport office with Birth certificate. They asked for a court order to get the year changed in passport to 1983. I am trying to procure that; this will take some time of course.

Now, when I apply to schools, can I upload my DoB certificate and request them to consider 1983 as my year of birth (which actually is) explaining to them that my passport will reflect this date in due course of time, before I confirm my admission?

Thanks a lot for your kind inputs.

Regards
Mukesh
