<--EDITED MY POST-->

For the first question,
IMO E

Option 1 : M>N

plug in the values
M =2,N=1 . true
M=-1,N=-2. false
Hence, INSUFFICIENT

Option 2 : M+N >1

plug in the values
M=1 N=1 ..true
M=2 N=4 ..false
Hence, INSUFFICIENT

Combining both the equations,

plug in the values
M=4 N=2 ...true
M=4 N=-2 ..false
Hence, INSUFFICIENT

Hi,
Even combining both statements:
if m =3,n=1, |m-n| = 2 and|m|-|n| = 2
if m =3,n=-1, |m-n| = 4 and |m|-|n| = 2

Hence, E
Cheers!

Things are not what they appear to be... nor are they otherwise
