Cricketers

Elbow pads and visors worn by cricketers are yet another example that proves how much attention the game receives today. After all, players of 70's did not need such protection, even during the days of bodyline bowling, considered vicious in it's own right.

The presenter of this argument has raised a justifiable objection for all possible reasons EXCEPT:

A. There was more camaraderie on field in the 70's
B. Playing conditions have become more competitive.
C. Fielding positions were less rigid.
D. The players of the 70s were far gutsier
E. Bodyline bowling has been banned since the 70's.

I don't have the OA answer and have chosen option A.
Your answers please with explanation.

Hi,
After all, players of 70's did not need such protection because:
1)There was more camaraderie on field in the 70's
2)Fielding positions were less rigid.
3)The players of the 70s were far gutsier

Players of this generation need pads because:
Playing conditions have become more competitive.

All the 4 reasons could be used to reason out why cricketers need pads now while they didn't need earlier.
But, E states :" Bodyline bowling has been banned since the 70's. " So, the threat has decreased. So, cricketers do not need pads to protect them.

Hence, E

Any chance of getting OA?
Cheers!

Things are not what they appear to be... nor are they otherwise

I agree with Frankenstein regarding the explanation. Basically, we're looking at the choice which supports the argument that the game receives much attention today. The answer is therefore E

OA is E.

I must have been carried away by "has raised a justifiable objection for all possible reasons EXCEPT".

Could the experts explain.
'Possible reasons' for what ? I thought it was about the game receiving so much attention nowadays.

The questions is asking which would be a reason for the games to NOT involve paddings by the players even though the 70s included bodyline bowling(physical aspect).

a)more lenience between athletes
b)harsher conditions
c)Field less rigid
d)gutsier players
e)Bodyline Bowling has been banned since the 70s

E stands out.

Bit surprised to see a cricket question on the GMAT. :)

This question isn't even in English. The sentence "The presenter of this argument has raised a justifiable objection for all possible reasons" is completely meaningless. The word "70s" should have 'the' in front of it; "it's" should not have an apostrophe; etc, etc, etc. This is frankly one of the worst written practice questions I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them. There isn't much point debating the 'correct answer' to a question that doesn't make any sense to begin with. I'd be curious to know where it's from, but I'd also strongly recommend working from better quality materials.
