I'm assuming you meant to write (1)/(x+y)
Because it would make more sense logically.

The only way for a fraction to be zero is if the numerator is also zero.
But in this problem it is not the case.
If (x+y) in this problem were to net to zero then the problem would be undefined. "(1)/(0) = undefined"

So answer is "C"
