Which of the following best completes the passage below?
At large amusement parks, live shows are used very deliberately to influence crowd movements. Lunchtime performances relieve the pressure on a park's restaurants. Evening performances have a rather different purpose: to encourage visitors to stay for supper. Behind this surface divergence in immediate purpose there is the unified underlying goal of______

(A) keeping the lines at the various rides short by drawing off part of the crowd
(B) enhancing revenue by attracting people who come only for the live shows and then leave the park
(C) avoiding as far as possible traffic jams caused by visitors entering or leaving the park
(D) encouraging as many people as possible to come to the park in order to eat at the restaurants
(E) utilizing the restaurants at optimal levels for as much of the day as possible

OA E
I went for A on my first reading
But then I realized that A is out of scope since, that is what I am adding from my knowledge

Here, the premise says blabla is done for lunch
another blabla is done for supper
so blabla is actually related to restaurants
(GMAT CR never go out of what is stated in the argument, rather they usually sum up the argument)

leads me to choose E

I went with E when I read it. Here is my reasoning;

The passage tells us one purpose for the performances, but what else are they trying to achieve with their performances? Both examples given in the passage are to influence the amount of people in the restaurants. Now ask yourself, what are they hoping to achieve in the restaurants with these performances? At lunch they are wanting to draw people away so there not as crowded, and at dinner they are hoping that the performances will keep people around long enough for them to eat at the park. In both cases they are trying to get the most out of the restaurants. In the afternoon to lessen the stress on the facilities and at night to keep people they want.

This led me to pick E.
