D IMO.
A -->Quality of hotels' carpentry is compared to house etc which is out of scope.
B --> Accomodating more guests doesnt weaken the argument that carpentry was not good after 1930.
C --> This actually strengthens the argument that material was indifferent.
D --> This rings some bells. If the building is less likely to fall into disuse due to better quality of original carpentry, it means that the hotels which had bad quality of carpentry before 1930 have got demolished so we are left with only the ones with good carpentry. So it is not reasonable to say that the carpentry was good before.
E --> This also seems to be out of scope.
