What is wrong with C? thx

The cottontail rabbit population in Orange County, California, has increased unchecked in recent years as a result of the removal of the native fox population and the clearing of surrounding woodlands.

(C) years, resulting from the removing of

"as a result of" is better than "resulting from"
The answer is A
perfect parallelism...

Well....I would go with option B. It is indeed a question that tests the concept of parallelism. If you see the sentence, the part "years as a result of the removal of the native fox population" and "the clearing of srrounding woodlands. " should be consistent. Meaning the verb in the first part should have a form of 'ing' (removing). This elimintaes choice A and E. Lets see other choices. Choice B sounds alright, so lets keep it for the time being. Choice C would violate paralle construction ...resulting from Vs clearing of
. I'll eliminate choice C because of this. Choice D has more or less the same problem as choice C. (construction with which)

IMO 'A'. To me 'removal of' looks better than 'removing of' as a noun.
