During 11 AM to 3 PM on the last Monday, four friends Karl, Lucy, Medic, and Nelson remained constantly online over distinct periods of time (in hours) within the given duration. If Medic remained online throughout the duration and Nelson remained online for more number of hours than Lucy did, which of the four friends remained online for exactly 1 hour?
(1) Karl remained online for less number of hours than Nelson did.
(2) Nelson remained online for as many number of hours as Lucy's and Karl's online hours put together.

As per my analysis neither of the statement is sufficient.

Question Stem:

1. Medic was online for 4 hours (This implies other three will be online for 3,2,1 hour as they are online for distinct number of hours)
2. Nelson>Lucy

Statement 1:
Nelson> Karl

It implies Nelson was online for 3 hours as Nelson is greater than both Lucy and Karl in terms of online hours.

But it does not give any idea about who was online for exactly one hour. Statement 1 is alone not sufficient


Statement 2:
Nelson = Lucy + Karl

It does not give any idea about who was online for exactly one hour

Combined:
combining both 3 = 1+2 (where 1 or 2 can belong to either Lucy or Karl)

So combination is also not sufficient.

Hence answer should be (E)

Yes answer is E.
