question taken from link:

I always get confused over the wording like:

twice as many were sold in June as in April

does this mean quantity sold in June=2* quantity sold in April ?

A times as many X as Y were sold

does this mean X=AY ?

twice as many were sold in June as in April

so lets say that there are X things sold in april. That would mean that there are 2X things sold in june.
