I don't think prose can be -whose!
Confused between two choices

well "prose" can very well be referred by "whose"
i don't remember but i have seen OG problems where "whose" can refer to people as well as to things!! but yes "who" can only refer to people
also u have not given other choices but the choice B has fatal tense issue
these prose are very much in existence so to use "were" is not logical
kindly show the other choices and tell me the source
