Redeem

Confused about my score.

I took my first ever practice GMAT yesterday using the GMATPrep software.

Here's my score info:

Score: 660

Raw score:
Quant: 46
Verbal: 35

I had 14 incorrect questions on the Quant section and 32 incorrect questions on the Verbal section.

How can I have a 660 when I had so many incorrect questions? It just doesn't make sense. I figure my score would be far lower than that.

Your score is based on the difficulty of the questions you got right not on how many you got right.

550 =\ ...560 =\... 650 =) ...570 =( ...540 =*( ...680 =P ... 670 =T ...=T... 650 =T ...700 =) ..690 =) ...710 =D ...GMAT 720 DING!! ;D

wow is that score really possible, regardless of difficulty level, given the # of questions missed?
The quant makes sense, but the verbal?

32 incorrect means he only got 9 questions correct out of 41 o_O
Given the number of incorrect answers... its hard to see how the score is so high despite the different weighings of the questions basd on difficulty.
I beat the GMAT! 760 (Q49/V44)

I agree with jasonc.

Apparently, I'm not the only one having that problem, check out https://gmatclub.com/forum/8-p473665

I did some research and I found out there's a bug with the review mode of the GMATPrep software. The review mode is where it lists how many questions you had incorrect for each section. Some people have posted that in the review mode, there are questions listed that weren't even on their exam! I haven't looked at all my incorrect questions yet, so that might be the possibility for me too.

I'm going to give GMAC a call tomorrow and ask them about this, just to make sure.

After I finished the verbal section, I had a pretty good feeling about it. I highly doubt I really got 32 out of 41 questions incorrect. Just seems very odd to me.

I just used the same program a couple hours ago and I had the same issue. My little "hypothesis" here is that the score is accurate.. If many of the best test-takers are testing 'poorly', then their percentile is still correct and the program is just making up a score that matches the percentile. Does that sound right?

Quantitative 18/37 (Scaled 42)
Verbal 31/41 (Scaled 42)

Score 690. The reason I think the score is accurate is because this is in-line with how I've been scoring on other tests. I just got a lot less questions right ^_^

Anyhows, someone feel free to write back when you've heard back from GMAC or when you have a better theory.

I called GMAC just now. The lady said there is indeed a bug with the latest version of GMATPrep. She gave me an email to send a request to get the latest non-buggy version of the GMATPrep software.

I asked if the bug meant that the score was wrong or if it meant that the review mode was wrong, or both. She said she was not sure and to just ask in the email (the one she gave me).

So I sent an email asking for the link of the non-buggy GMATPrep software and more info on the bug. Will update this thread the moment I get a response.

Got a response, they gave me the link of where I can download the latest GMATPrep software without the bug. They also said the bug is only in regards to the Review Mode. Drop me a message and I'll give you the link.

Could you post the link ? Or is it against the rules of this forum ?

Thanks

This happened to me too. If you go back and look at the questions, you'll see that a lot of them weren't even on the test you took.
It must have been love...but it's over now!
