If m,n,p, and q are concecutive positive even numbers, m<n<p<q, in term o m, what is the sum of four numbers?

A. 4m+3
B. 4m+6
C. 4m+8
D. 4m+12
E. 4m+16

I got - 2m+2m+2+2m+4+2m+6=8m+12.
Why the answer is D?

n = m + 2
p = n + 2 = m + 4
q = p + 2 = m + 6

Hence, (m + n + p + q) = m + (m + 2) + (m + 4) + (m + 6) = 4m + 12

The correct answer is D.

m is already even..........

hence the 4 numbers m, m+2, m+4 and m+6.....
Add them up and you get........... 4m+12....... answer is D

Did you do the mistake of taking 2m, 2m+2 and all.

If m= positive even number
the next even number i. e. n = m+1+1=m+2
similarly, o= m+2+2=m+4
q= m+4+2=m+6
m+n++p+q
= m+(m+2)+(m+4)+(m+6)
=4m+12

You can put values and find the answers..

Say for example -- m=2
n=4
p=6
q=8

total = 20

you can see only option D (4m+12 = 4*2+12 = 20) satisfies this.

correct answer OPTION D
