I took the GMAT on the 8th of June, at NTUC Learninghub test centre (new test centre) in Singapore.
I faced some problems which affected me so much that I couldn't concentrate properly and which really pulled down my score.
1. Before the AWA section, the computer wouldn't respond and I had to wait for 10-15 minutes before the exam started.
2. After the first break, as I rushed back to my seat, to my horror, the system had hung. So the proctor had to reboot it and was totally nervous during this time as I thought that I would be losing couple of my precious time on Quant (as per the guidelines, the total time is only 8 mins for the break and if you take more than that,then,the clock starts ticking away.) After 2-3 minutes, I even asked the proctor whether I will be losing my time. To this, he just showed me a hand, as if to say- " please be quiet". I was totally freaking out by that time not only because I was being treated as if it was my mistake that the system hung ,but also because I was sure I wouldn't be able to finsh my Quant on time. Later, the computer did start and there was no technical problem, but for me,the damage was already done. I was literally shaking due to the stress and I had to guess the last 6-7 questions blindly.
3. After the Quant,as per the procedure, I raised my hand to take a break again,and while walking out to use the restroom,the proctor told me that I should have informed them before taking the break, but I told them I had indeed raised my hand to signal them , what else could I do to alert them?
During this whole test, the test room was full of disturbance, some people seemed to be taking other exams and some people were talking quite loudly in the room. I was already shaken up and it was becoming even more difficult to focus due to the disturbance. I had used the ear plugs but to no avail.
Since my quant went badly , I was almost in tears and I knew my score will never be good. It was almost a year's hard work that went down the drain. And obviously this affected my verbal too.
I wonder if I can have a re-test.
