More than 30 years ago Dr. Barbara McClintock, the Nobel Prize winner, reported that genes can "jump", as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another.

(a) as pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(b) like pearls moving mysteriously from one necklace to another
(c) as pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(d) like pearls do that move mysteriously from one necklace to others
(e) as do pearls that move mysteriously from one necklace to some other one

This is very important SC que. Can any expert please help in addressing this in detail.

This comes down to meaning. Pearls don't "jump" so we can't use the phrase "as do", since they don't!

C, D, and E are out for this reason. The only difference between A and B is the "like" versus "as". Since we've removed the verb "do", we cannot use "as". We'd need a verb with "as", such as "as pearls move."

Was mixed between A and B.

one another/each other is the right idiom so C D E are out. Nice explanation by Vivian with the meaning in this sentence.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.
