The Tournament of Roses Parade, the highest rated among televised parades worldwide, a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses come together, moving in a procession down South Orange Grove Boulevard and Sierra Madre Boulevard.

worldwide, a celebration in which creatively decorated
floats, marching bands, and horses come together, moving
in a procession

worldwide, it is a celebration where creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses are coming together
to move in a procession

worldwide and a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses come together, move in
a procession

worldwide, is a celebration in which creatively decorated
floats, marching bands, and horses come together to move
in a procession

worldwide, is a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses are collaborating, it moves in a procession

P.S: This is a question from KNEWTON PREP:

D

Over here, E apparently has a comma splice: but i was wondering whether it would be right even if we correct the comma spice by putting in a FANBOYS word.

"a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses are collaborating"

Shouldn't this be "a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses collaborate"?....Just felt that Collaborating changes the meaning and tense of the whole sentence..like the horses , bands and floats are currently collaborating as compared to something that usually happens in general...

Any help would be appreciated

Regards,

aJ

The Tournament of Roses Parade, the highest rated among televised parades worldwide, a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses come together, moving in a procession down South Orange Grove Boulevard and Sierra Madre Boulevard.

A] worldwide, a celebration in which creatively decorated
floats, marching bands, and horses come together, moving
in a procession

B]worldwide, it is a celebration where creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses are coming together
to move in a procession

C] worldwide and a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses come together, move in
a procession

D] worldwide, is a celebration in which creatively decorated
floats, marching bands, and horses come together to move
in a procession

E] worldwide, is a celebration in which creatively decorated floats, marching bands, and horses are collaborating, it moves in a procession

According to me the OA given is absolutely wrong. OA should be D. It is a perfect use of a modifier. Does not change the meaning. In fact the meaning presented is perfect.

E on the other hand uses 'collaborating' unnecessarily and also 'it moves in a procession' , I really do not know what is it referring back to or modifying.

'Also' could have been used to get the meaning correct.

E cannot be the OA there is some mistake. Check it once more. D should be the OA.

Hope this helps...

Oops, my bad the answer is actually D and not E.

i had a doubt about the word collaborating in this context. It felt too human like as far as the usage is concerned. What would the corrected sentence look like?
