Can someone help with the attached probelm below?

m and n are the x and y coordinates, respectively, of a point in the coordinate plane. If the points (m, n) and (m+p,n+4) both lie on the line defined by the equation x = y/2 - 2/5, what is the value of p?


A) 4/5

B) 1

C) 2

D) 5

E) 8

x = y/2 - 2/5
x = (5y – 4)/10
10x = 5y - 4
10x+4=5y
2x + 4/5 = y

So now we know that the slope = 2

Using the equation of (y2 – y1)/(x2-x1) = slope
(n+4 - n)/(m+p – m) = slope
4/p = slope

Since we know the slope = 2

4/p = 2
4 = 2p
2=p

since the points lie on the straight line,

m = n/2 - 2/5
(m+p) = (n+4)/2 - 2/5

subtracting second equation from first,
p = 2
