Clinical healthcare career to mba program?

Hello all

I have a BS in dental hygiene...I've been working consistently since I graduated for 5 yrs now. Is it possible to go from a healthcare career to a good ranked mba program (part time)? Are they only looking for business related professionals? I feel like I'm in a unique boat and its making me very nervous because I don't know how they'll see my education/work experience vs others who have exactly what a business program would look for.

My gpa is 3.4 from SIU and gmat is 690

Many people attend business school with broadly diverse backgrounds. Applicants filter part-time programs based on location (since they are working).

That's what I figure and really hoping they take into consideration. I'm located in Chicago and was aiming for the big 2 there...Booth and Kellogg

For sure!
Part-time MBA tend to be very flexible in comparison to full-time MBAs, and a 690 is likely enough for you to get into any part-time MBA program as long as you can make a good and convincing argument for this shift, and make a logical argument for whatever goals you have with this MBA.

I think your type of profile (with your solid gmat score) can get into the part time programs that you are targeting. Given that your work is largely delivering care, you may want to showcase any organizational/project management skills you have exhibited outside of work if possible. Some applicants were active in clubs in college and some dedicate free time to charity or trade organizations. Sharing how you contributed to these types of orgs could help you make an argument that though you don't have formal business experience, you do have experience organizing and planning, and yes leading!
