imo D

A,B,C - 'it' does not have an antecedent.

D for me coz E sounds to be passive, and in A, B, and C reference of "it" is ambiguous..

Could you please provide OA? I was stuck between D and E yes E is passive ,yet unnoticed is a verb so does not we need a a was/were here?

E. is wrong because "although" is a subordinating conjunction and a subordinating conjunction introduces a subordinate clause and a subordinate clause cannot have a working verb. Like in this case "was unnoticed" is a working verb.

I'm having a hard time on this. Doesn't D has a meaning issue
description is mentioned in the stem. But, in option D, discovery is mentioned.

OA should be D.

in A, B, and C.....'it' is problematic. E uses 'Although' which is not making sense. We require some contradiction which is not coming out clearly in E
