It has always been difficult to understand the basis of politics in the People's Republic of China. Because the system is effectively closed, it is impossible to know with any degree of confidence who is allied with whom and for what reasons. Yet Chinese politics does exhibit many of the external characteristics of factional political systems, as found in more open societies. It is legitimate to conclude, therefore, that China has a factional political system.

Which one of the following, if true, would confirm the author's conclusion that China has a factional political system?

(A) All open political systems are factional political systems.
(B) All factional political systems are closed political systems.
(C) All closed political systems are factional political systems.
(D) China's political system is more open than many existing factional political systems.
(E) China's political system is more closed than all existing factional political systems.

Close call between C and D. I will go for D.
Chinese politics exhibit many external characteristics of factional political systems, as found in more open societies. From this line we can say that China has factional political system.

Conclusion: China has a factional political system
Premises: Chinese politics does exhibit many of the external characteristics of factional political systems
: The system is effectively closed.

I would go with C
all closed systems -> factional political systems.
Chinese system is closed system -> china has factional poltical system.

I would eliminate D because in D, comparison is made vis a vis China's system being more open to other existing political factional system. The existence of other political factional systems is not mentioned in the stimulus. It is well out of scope to make a comparison as to whichnsystem is more open.

A strengthen question so we need to find evidence in the stimulus to prove the statements in answer option.

(A) All open political systems are factional political systems.
[Open system not mentioned in the passage, eliminate]
(B) All factional political systems are closed political systems.
[this may be true may not be true . Suppose A is set of chairs and B is a set of furniture then A is a subset of B . That is All A 's are B 's and not the other way round . ]
(C) All closed political systems are factional political systems.
[Correct this clearly says All A's are B 's ]
(D) China’s political system is more open than many existing factional political systems.
[existing factional political systems never mentioned in the passage , eliminate]
(E) China’s political system is more closed than all existing factional political systems.
[existing factional political systems never mentioned in the passage , eliminate]
"Know thyself" and "Nothing in excess"

1. China is effectively closed i.e not open (opp. of closed) society.
2. Yet China exhibits characteristics of factional political systems,
3. Factional politics is found in more open societies.
4. The choosen Option from (A to E) should fit here
5. Conclusion China has a factional political system.

(A) All open political systems are factional political systems. Just say obverse of 3. is also true.
(B) All factional political systems are closed political systems. Negates 3. It means factional political system are( opp of closed) not open political systems.
(C) All closed political systems are factional political systems. 1. China is a closed system. Closed systems are factional. So China has factional political system. Logical
(D) China's political system is more open than many existing factional political systems. This negates 1.
(E) China's political system is more closed than all existing factional political systems 3. Does not rule out that factional politics in closed political systems. cos'if A imply B , it does not mean C cannot imply B. But by saying more closed than all closed it effectively rules out the option that C can imply B.
IMO C anybody has knowledge of how to explain logic through diagrams ? Will really apprecite.
