We can use the formula:

average = (total distance)/(total time)

average = 1200/2.5 = 480 mph

Answer: D

Direct substitution into the formula

\(Speed = \frac{Distance}{Time}=\frac{1200\text{ miles}}{2.5\text{ hour}}=480\text{ mph}\).

Therefore, D

Here's how I would answer this in my head
Average speed = total distance/total time
= 1200/2.5
= 2400/5
= 4800/10
= 480

Answer: D

Cheers,
Brent
