Hello all!

I have a question regarding some MBA programs that
I'm interested in. I'm from the Midwest and have been
looking into the following programs: University of
Iowa (Tippie) and University of Minnesota (Carlson).
These schools are considered to be in the "B" range if
I'm not mistaken.

I'm currently completing my BA in Accounting with
a solid GPA (3.5). I plan on taking the GMAT in 3 months
but am shooting for a 650-700 score. This score
lies in the middle to upper percentage with other
students.

However, I'm 21 years old and obviously have 0 years
of professional work experience. How hard will it be to
get into these programs, and am I recommended to
work after completing my undergrad?

This is of course assuming I meet my 650 mark atleast
and can provide great recommendations (PHD professors).

THe first question adcoms will ask is why now? You will need to overcome resistance against your lack of WE since it's really WE which makes b-schools work. Every class discussion, every team project, every case to be solved relies in part on what each student brings from his or her background and professional career. Additionally, b-schools are evaluated on how quickly their students are employed after graduation, and you will be competing for jobs against classmates with the same degree, but 2, 3 or 5 years more work experience. For some jobs, it's not as important and they like fresh clay they can train and mold, but for most MBA positions, they want to hire folks who have led or managed people or projects before beyond an academic setting.
