I was wondering about my chances of getting into Haas Evening/ Weekend MBA program for Fall 2009. Here is my Profile.
31 year old Indian Female working in the SF Bay Area
GMAT: 680 ( Quant 43 - 68 percentile and Verbal 41- 89 percentile; Overall 86 percentile)
Undergrad: B.S Agriculture from India ( G.P.A - 8.2/10)
MS: Computer Science from an ave tier US university ( GPA - 3.86/4.0)
Note: No undergrad or grad courses in Math except statistics
Work Experience: 7 years ( US Based Oil Company - 4 largest in the World )
Career Progression: Started as an IT Application Analyst - 3 years
International Exp: 1 Year.
Voluntered for a 1 year expatriate rotation program to Angola as Technical project consultant - mentored national staff and provided a direction to the team in application development.
Technical Team Leader: 1 1/2 years - Lead an application development team of 40-45 developers located onshore/offshore. Built the team from scratch, though it wasn't a managerial role.
Team Leader:1 1/2 - years Currently Managing directly and indirectly a team of 80. Manage 11 Employees including technical team leaders.( Employees have exp ranging from 6 years to 18 years). Manage team budget, plan resource allocation and headcount.
Nominated for a prestigious 1 year mentoring program with in the company where a select few visit various Business Units within the company and other external technology companies and learn key business drivers/components and current tech trends in the industry.
Excellent recos from current and past managers.
Very limited extra curricular activities.
Does my profile make me a good candidate for Haas EWMBA program? I believe that Haas requires the applicants take a Math waiver exam if Quant is below 80 percentile. I have mixed feelings about my score. Sometimes I feel alittle concerned about my Quant section of GMAT and think about retaking the exam. At other times I feel it is a decent score and I should be focussing completely on my application essays.. I am a little confused..
I used to average 48 on quant section in all my practice tests, including those on Kaplan and Gmat powerprep.
Any advice?
