Following the split in 1980 , the chances of a spree ballet reunion, as per fans ,were more likely than tank tops and short pants making a comeback.


A. the chances of a spree ballet reunion, as per fans, were more likely than tank tops and short pants making a comeback.
B. spree ballet reunion chances were as likely to tank tops and short pants making a comeback.
C. fans thought spree ballet reunion is as likely as tank tops or short pants making a comeback
D. the chances of a spree ballet reunion were most likely as tank tops and short pants making a comeback
E. fans thought the chances of a Spree ballet reunion were as likely as tank tops and short pants making a comeback.

IMO E

The modifier "Following the split in 1980" should touch the noun "fans" as Fans are comparing two things.
Discard A, B, and D.

Between C and E, C has issues such as Tense Usage ( "is" is wrong as the sentence expects Past), Comparison (spree ballet reunion is compared with tank tops or short pants making a comeback) .

E correctly fixes these two issues.
If the problem is Easy Respect it, if the problem is tough Attack it

IMO 'C'

We never say "Chances are likely" . it doesnt make sense.kinda redundant isn't it?.

We say reunion is likely.

Also 'tank tops or short pants ' makes more sense than 'tank tops and short pants ' here.

Again, sigh, I find this question totally untestlike. I wouldn't use this source as a source to study from. But anyway.

It can't be C because you'd never say "fans thought ... is"

It can't be D because the idiom isn't "most likely" here, it'd be "as likely"

It can't be A because it makes no darn sense as written, not even a tiny bit.

It can't be B because B changes the meaning, and because "as likely to" is totally wrong.

So, that leaves E. E doesn't sound so awful.
