Cartographers have long struggled with the problem of having the spherical Earth to draw on a flat sheet of paper.
(A) having the spherical Earth to draw on a flat sheet of paper
(B) having a flat sheet of paper on which to draw the spherical Earth
(C) how can one draw the spherical Earth on a flat sheet of paper
(D) how they could use a flat sheet of paper to draw the spherical Earth
(E) how to draw the spherical Earth on a flat sheet of paper

OA is E.

Why is B incorrect?

(D) how they could use a flat sheet of paper to draw the spherical Earth
(E) how to draw the spherical Earth on a flat sheet of paper

OA is E.

Why is B incorrect?
(A) having the spherical Earth to draw on a flat sheet of paper
This suggests that the spherical Earth is drawing on a flat sheet of paper
ELIMINATE A

(B) having a flat sheet of paper on which to draw the spherical Earth
This suggests having a flat sheet of paper is the problem
ELIMINATE B

(C) how can one draw the spherical Earth on a flat sheet of paper
The first part of the sentence sets us up to expect a problem. So, the part that follows "of" must be the PROBLEM. This answer choice presents us with a QUESTION "how can one draw the spherical Earth on a flat sheet of paper?"
ELIMINATE C

(D) how they could use a flat sheet of paper to draw the spherical Earth
This suggests that the paper is the one drawing the spherical Earth
ELIMINATE D

(E) how to draw the spherical Earth on a flat sheet of paper
The first part of the sentence sets us up to expect a problem. So, what follows "of" must be the PROBLEM. Here, the problem is clearly defined as "how to draw a spherical Earth on a flat sheet of paper" Perfect!

Answer: E

(B) Distorts the meaning of the sentence - Seems that the problem is of "a flat sheet of paper ".

(E) Correctly conveys the meaning of problem , ( That is Drawing the Spherical Earth on a flat sheet of Paper).
