-->CORRECT: you would say 'that' has no referent, but 'that' is not used as connector(or whatever its called). Its used as a part of noun itself, as in "That Number" : the previous figures.
another eg. of such use of that is: That bird is one of wildest bird.
Does 'that' refer to anything ???

-->INCORRECT: by themselves??? Are they human or what?
D. as many trucks themselves
-->INCORRECT:same error as in C; Also IDIOM: as many...as missing 'as'
