How many ways can 3 pieces of candy given out to 4 kids ?
4C3 = 4!/1! * 3! = 4 ways
Alternative Explanation:
A, B, C, D are the Kids and 3 candies can be distributed among them as
ABC
ABD
ACD
BCD
Therefore it is 4 ways.

should we consider also the following scenario: if all the candies are given to A and none to others.?

I wonder if this approach is correct.
I found this formula on BTG:
"distributing n identical things among r persons such that any person might get any number ( incl 0) is n+r -1 C r-1"
If I apply this I get 20.
