IMO C.
B seems awkward. If you replace B into the original sentence it seems awkward. 'because as' is definitely incorrect.

imo c

a) their is ambiguous in deciding to which noun its reffering
b) same as a
c) correct
d)use is singular sub and hence needs singular verb is
e) them..ambiguous
