Can you really miss 11 in Q and still get 49????

Hey all,

I re-took GMATPrep 1 today. Thought I screwed up math which indeed I did with 11 wrong answers. It still gave me a 49 in Q however. the wrong answers were spread out (and in some cases were in the RWRW pattern). I understand that spread out wrong answers are better than a few in a row but how can I possibly miss 11 and still get 87th percentile? Any thoughts?

Completely normal.

Yesterday I got 12 questions wrong on GMATPrep 1 but I got a 49 in the end.

The GMAT score is based on the number of questions AND the difficult of the questions you get right.

Just to illustrate how it works, the first time I did the GMATPrep I got 11 wrong questions in quant, but my final score was just 41 !
