If you score in the 99%ile on verbal (which is in the high 40s - I know the scale goes up to 60, but they don't actually assign those scores for some reason), then your math would have to be around mid to high 60%ile to get a 700. So, yes, your math can lag. But also know that the very top schools are looking for 80%ile in each of the subsections as well as the overall score. If you aren't aiming for a top-10 school, then that's not a concern, but if you are, you should think about that.

What do you think? I'm aiming for 700+, closer to 750, by the time I take the exam in a month and a half.

Am I aiming too high? Do I need to put in more hours?

Any advice is appreciated.

Nothing is impossible. If you got a 590 cold then getting a 750 is achievable by focussing on your weak points. Since you are weak in math like me i would recommend you go over the ARCO - GRE/GMAT book which is just amazing as far as basics in Quant are concerned. Most people only focus on the harder questions but you can only learn to tackle those questions once you are very strong on the basics. No matter how good some one is, going through the basics is such a refresher. Just by going over this book i can guarantee you will increase your score by 10-20 points. I know i did. Also since you are doing well on verbal try to further practice on it so that you ace it on the day of the GMAT - a better than average score in quant + a terrific score on verbal can still get you a 700.

I am putting in the same amount of hours as you are. I am guessing you work full time. I try to do some math during my lunch hour at work and for an hour or two at night. On weekends i try to put in atleast 4 hours per day. I think your pace is ok...just make sure you stick to it.
