According to me it should be (E).
Its a matter of writing down everything in the form of equations -
C- calories in 1 ounce of corn puff
X- calories in fruit X
Y- calories in fruit Y.
1 ounce of corn puffs and 8 ounces of fruit X provides 257 calories
C + 8X = 257 --->(1)
8 ounces of fruit Y is substituted for the 8 ounces of fruit X, the total number of calories is reduced to 185
C+8Y = 185 --->(2)
fruit X provides 1.8 times as many calories as fruit Y
X = 1.8Y --->(3)
how many calories does 8 ounces of fruit Y alone provide ? 8Y=?
Using the above 3 equations, you can solve for 8Y.
