I would also like to know what would be the most effective way to nail this part.

I know Kaplan suggests us to read the entire passage carefully, take notes and then answer the questions. But isnt it so time-consuming??

Another technique I heard was the following:

Step 1: Read the first paragraph and rewrite the key points. Rewrite in your own words.
Step 2: Read the first sentence of each subsequent paragraph. Rewrite in your own words.
Step 2a: SKIM the paragraph looking for key words - names, dates, key words. Write these down underneath the key sentence you wrote for each paragraph.
Step 3: Answer the questions.

Taking notes is typically very time consuming, and often unnecessary. You do need to read somewhat carefully, but remember that for detail oriented questions (probably 70% of the questions) you will want and be able to return to the passage anyway. Save time and read to get a general understanding and return when you have a question about a specific part of the passage.
