28 children took part in a math league competition. The number of children who finished behind Raul was twice as large as the number of children who were more successful than him. In which place did Raul finish?
(A) Eighth
(B) Ninth
(C) Tenth
(D) Sixteenth

Let number of childrens finished before raul be x

So number of childrens finished after raul will be 2x

Hence x+R+2x=28

Substituting the answer choices u ll find tat answer C satisfy the equation

If raul in tenth place, the equation ll be like

9+1+18=28

Number of children before raul ->9

Number of children after raul-->18

answer is C

x people infront of raul and 2x people behind him
so (x+1+2x) = 27
x = 9
So Raul finished 10th as x=9 people were infront of him
