Hello everyone,

I just registered on this forum today, and I'm completely overwhelmed by the number of topics! I dont even know where to start.

I will be finishing with my second year exams this June, and I'm planning to use the summer, from July onwards, to prepare for the GMAT. I will be giving the test around mid-October. It sounds like a lot of time, but I wont have more than 2 hours a day because of my internship.

I'm thinking of buying the GMAT Prep Pack from the official GMAT store. This has all the three official guides and paper tests, and the quantitative diagnostic exam as well. Does anyone recommend anything else? Any ideal study plans? Please do tell me what I can do, I haven't started anything yet!

I'm hoping for anything above 730..I did a practice test online a couple of months ago and got 720 but I have no clue about that website at all..

You are in Second year and planning to write GMAT. WOW! great start. But normally B'Schools look for work experience. If you are a fresher, you should be having a strong Academic record and normally look for leadership or strong skills suitable for MBA studies.

Hi, thanks for writing back. I have found a couple of courses (some MBA, some MSc in Management) that do not require work experience, but do require a GMAT score. So thats my plan, and if I do not get in (touchwood) I will get some work experience.

@ng007, what you are doing now? how much time can you afford daily towards preparation? please post about yourself, so that other students and applicants can respond better.

Hi mriidula,

I believe you can't go wrong getting the the GMAT prep pack. The official guide uses retired exam questions in the past. But as mentioned above, work experience is important as well as other components of the application. Do not neglect that. Try a practice test that is timed. Review the question you got wrong and focus on those areas. With the GMAT you have ~2 minutes to answer each question. The topics are easy, but they drill down and go deep on testing you on concepts (ie math).

Hi, thanks for writing back. Even though they have plenty of real GMAT test questions, I wasn't too sure about the paper tests given that they aren't computer adaptive and hence not an good indication of how I would fare in the real GMAT. Do you advise I get them? I've gone ahead and ordered the official guides though, as well as some extra books for verbal.

Try MGMAT practice tests. They are the best in the prep arena and you can use the code which comes along with the MGMAT guides.
